Facility Security Community Safety Programs Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

The security of our public facilities is crucial to the open and effective functioning of government.  In recent years, attacks on public facilities and workers by terrorists, anarchists, disgruntled citizens, unstable employees and plain old fashioned criminals has generated an increased interest in public sector security.

As a Board Certified security professional with considerable public sector experience, I can be a significant resource to public agencies looking to evaluate and improve their facility security.

I am a security consultant, former corporate security manager, and police crime prevention specialist with more than 40 years of training and experience in evaluating, developing, and managing security and crime prevention programs.  For 25 of those years I served as both a private sector security consultant and a public sector Peace Officer advising "America's Safest City" on crime prevention issues, architectural/environmental security, workplace violence, physical security and private security matters.

As a Police Crime Prevention Specialist I provided technical guidance and advice to public officials and government executives in security awareness, the recognition and reduction of crime risks, and the implementation of security and crime prevention measures.  I advised the City's Planning Department, Planning Commission and City Council on crime prevention and architectural/environmental security; managed the City's Building Security Ordinance and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design programs; conducted design review and plan checks for building projects in the City; wrote the City's Security Alarm Ordinance; served as Police Department liaison to Private Security Industry, acted as a City Emergency Services Coordinator; supervised the City's Police Department Crime Prevention, Training, Special Enforcement, K-9, and Detective Units; served as a Police Media Relations Officer.

The following is a representative sample of government public benefit organizations, institutions, and entities to which assistance has been provided:

Licensed & Insured

I am in full compliance with the laws of every state in which I do business.   I am also fully insured with both general business and errors and omissions coverage.

For Public Agencies in Nevada

Nevada law requires that anyone who provides security consulting or investigative services within the State be licensed by the Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board (NRS 648.060).  In recent years there have been a number of instances where State and local public agencies released RFP's for security consulting services which did not require consultants to be licensed.   Those embarrassed agencies where forced to revise their qualification requirements and amend the RFP's.

To verify a license or obtain more information, call the Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board at  775-687-3223.
